Remembering 9/11
It was exactly 2 years ago when planes were hijacked and flown into the World Trade Center towers and Pentagon. Doesn’t seem like 2 years has gone by so fast, has it? It’s one of those events, such as the JFK assassination, where you’ll always remember what you were doing or where you were when you first heard the news.
I had just finished my morning classes and was at the Acadia chapel for the morning service when Brandon Uhlman told me about the attacks. I had no idea what the WTC was, and I just assumed they were small, single seater airplanes that had crashed. After the service, I went to Michener Lounge and tried to access CNN and Yahoo!, but to not avail, everything was bogged down as millions of people across the world were also trying to find out what happened. I remember seeing a written article about it but I didn’t get my first glimpse of the disaster until watching TV later that afternoon. During that school year I kept a daily journal, and on that day I wrote how September 11 would be a day never to be forgotten.
