Return of Leatherface
While watching tv the other night, I noticed a movie preview that had a very familiar story line. I was almost sure that I had seen the movie before, but it was new. Then I realized that I had seen the movie before, atleast the older version of it. It was the re-make of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which will be coming out on October 17. I saw the original 1974 horror-flick last summer in the middle of the day while having a spaghetti lunch with friends back in Wolfville (the best day of my life, eh Andrew & Erin). Although I haven’t seen many horror movies, this was definetely the cheesiest and not scary at all. Having a girl running through the forest, screaming her lungs out for about 10 straight minutes was more funny than scary. Hopefully the re-make will be better even though I doubt I’ll pay money to watch it.
My plans for tomorrow include heading downtown to see the Blue Jays play their second last game of the season against the Cleveland Indians. It should be a good game seeing that Roy Halladay will be looking for his 22nd win of the season. He was thrown out of his last game for beaning a Tampa Bay Devil Rays batter. So far it’s just Sean and I heading down. Anybody else in the GTA want to join us? Let me know.
Nothin’ like a good horror flik and Spaghetti at noon, eh? (I just realized how really wierd that is… I mean, who watches a horror movie IN THE MORNING?)
Comment by Andrew — September 27, 2003 @ 10:46 amDid anything that happened at our apartment last year make sense? Case in point.

Comment by Derek — September 27, 2003 @ 11:15 amI was big into baseball once… but then the strike happened, and I think half the world said “who cares?”. I think that strike (1994? 95?) dealt MLB a serious blow in terms of popularity.
Comment by Andrew — September 27, 2003 @ 12:37 pmMy TCM experience. Picture this: 13 or 14 watching Texas CM at my best friend’s house alone.. now parents and it’s a Friday night. In the middle of the ten minute White Bell-Bottom chase there was a frantic knock at the door and this woman is standing there crying and asking to come in and call the police.. apparently she and her boyfriend got into a fight and he ripped the phone out of the wall… So we let her use the phone in the entrance way of her house..
Did I mention we were alone? And like 13? Yeah so this cheesy, semi freaky movie (The hitchhiker with the switchblade was a little nasty) ended up being a scarring but memorable experience.
If you would like to see the souped up, on crack version of this movie please see Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses” It’s got that some cozy close-knit f*&ked up family feel to it.
And then there was the time we were in a car-chase with an off-duty cop who we mooned while he was having under-age sex with a girl… but that’s a story for another day.
Comment by Julie — September 27, 2003 @ 7:00 pmI’m not one to watch horror movies, either. Yet this past week I watched Psycho II and Psycho III. (I didn?t even know they existed until I saw them in the TV listings.) I figured they wouldn?t be too bad since they were made in the 80?s, plus I was curious as to what happens when Norman Bates gets out of the mental institution. Anyway, I watched them in my basement during the afternoon and I was bored more then scared.
