Gentoo, Take 1

Posted by tvor @ 8:56 pm

We never made it to the baseball game today to see Roy Halladay post his 22nd victory of the season. It was raining around the time we would have left, so we’ll be going to tomorrow’s game instead. It’s Fan Appreciation Day, so the first 10,000 fans into SkyDome get free tshirts. Here’s hoping that we can get there early enough.

I spent the majority of the day researching and semi-installing Gentoo. However, with our slow internet connection, doing an emerge sync is almost impossible because I’m always timing out. I’ll attempt it again tonight. Overall, the first part of the installation wasn’t as difficult as I thought. I read through all of the installation document, making notes of commands that I would have to run.

While cleaning up my room this afternoon I came across some floppies which had alot of my old website projects and programs from high school and first year university. It’s funny looking back at the simple Java programs from Comp1113. Anyone remember that first assignment where we had to print our name inside of a box? All done in three println statements. My, how far we’ve come since first year.

  1. It took me 2 hours to do that one.

It took me 2 hours to do my last graphics assignment and that was 1000 lines of code.

    Life is like that :)

  2. Ah println… is there anything it can’t do? I want to do my thesis on println. Then maybe SLRAS can die. :)
