You Don’t Even Know Me!!

Posted by tvor @ 12:01 am

While pondering over a blog entry, I’ve decided to comprise a list of the top ten eleven things that you folks probably don’t know about me. Feel free to create your own list too. It would be interesting to see what people might be hiding. :)

  1. Cut my left index finger completely off when I was 2 years old. The doctors sewed it back on but I still have problems bending it completely.
  2. Had a Seinfeld webpage mentioned in the Los Angeles Times newspaper in April, 1998. The site dealt with predictions for the last episode.
  3. I am a HUGE fan of the Back to the Future trilogy! Trivia anyone?
  4. Flew approximately 14,000km during the summer and made it into all of Canada’s timezones, except for Newfoundland.
  5. Used to be a Montreal Canadiens fan but have moved on to cheering for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  6. Prefer Coke over Pepsi anyday!
  7. Webmaster of a somewhat active Beastie Boys website that I created back in 1999 while in high school. I was a big fan back then and still enjoy their music.
  8. I’m a terrible cook, although I enjoy making (and eating) tacoes and nachoes.
  9. Started playing hockey when I was 4 but retired at the early age of 8. Also had stints in baseball and basketball during the elementary and junior high days.
  10. Voted as “Nicest Person” in my grade 7 class. I was surprised too!!
  11. Have a huge hockey/baseball card collection back at home consisting of about 12,000 cards. I just need to wait a few more decades til I can cash them in and make my million. :)

Halloween Sickness

Posted by tvor @ 3:45 pm

As Halloween approaches, it causes me to take a look at my health. Why, you ask? Well, every year, since I can remember, I have gotten sick during the week of Halloween. I think it started back in Grade 3 and has continued for the past 13 years. However, I’m feeling fine right now, even if I am a bit tired. Here’s hoping that I can stay healthy for the next couple of days and break the end of October sickness streak.

The Three Way

Posted by tvor @ 8:57 am

While lying in bed last night at 11:30, I was surprised that the phone rang. I stumbled out of bed and answered it to someone on the other line saying “Trevor?”. It took me a couple seconds to clue in that it was Andrew, even though he said “Hi, it’s Andrew.” So we had a three way call with Erin and Matt in Montreal, Andrew in Wolfville, and myself here in Toronto.

Great conversation was had by all. Some of the topics included weird dreams (which I am still not revealing mine from a couple nights ago), broomball, PHP, life after graduation, blogging, how Montreal is a bad influence, DB2, and other crazy stuff, like reminiscing about the past school year and summer down in W’ville. Definetely a mix! We talked for almost 2 hours and I’m feeling more refreshed than ever this morning even though I only had 5 hours of sleep.

I also watched the final episode of Joe Schmo last night where they revealed to Matt that the entire game was setup. He took it really well though and was awarded a couple of trips, a 42″ flat screen tv, and the grand prize of $100,000.

Come on Down

Posted by tvor @ 9:28 am

I just read about the passing of Rod Roddy, the announcer from the Price is Right. He died yesterday and was believed to be 66, although there are records saying he was 67.

Hack The Bone!

Posted by tvor @ 12:30 pm

I heard through the grapevine that the Archangels will be starting their broomball season tonight. I’ll be cheering you on from Toronto. Go Angels! And remember to hack the bone!

iTunes Live

Posted by tvor @ 3:17 pm

I downloaded iTunes about a week ago (due to some convincing), and it has beaten out Winamp 2.x as my new mp3 player. I used to have all of my music in one big list, but now I’m starting to create some Smart Playlists with iTunes that will automatically add songs with certain artists, song titles, and pretty much any other way you can categorize songs to another list. It’s awesome!

Also, I forgot how much that I enjoy listening to live music compared to studio recorded music. I downloaded a few live tracks of Elton John and Billy Joel from their 1998 tour in Japan and they totally blow away their studio-recorded versions. The last time I was big into live music was a couple years ago when I downloaded tons of live Beastie Boys songs, especially from their live concert in Glasgow.

First Snowfall!

Posted by tvor @ 8:46 am

I saw the first few miniscule snowflakes fall today on the way to work. They evaporated even before touching the windshield, but atleast it was the first snowfall. Can’t wait til we get some big storms!

What’s a 5 Alarm Fire?

Posted by tvor @ 8:48 pm

The fire alarm in our building went off about an hour ago. It has a really high pitched squealing sound that can get on your nerves really easy. At first we thought it was just a fire drill but after a few minutes, it was still blaring. Looking across the street to the local fire department, the door was being raised and the fire truck’s lights were flashing. They certainly didn’t seem to be in a hurry as they turned onto the street and headed down the road, towards our apartment. Just in case there was a fire, I grabbed some McDonald’s coupons and the three of us headed across the street for some McFlurries amidst the alarm and other fire trucks that were heading towards our “possibly-on-fire” building.

It’s kind of funny and scary at the same time that Sean, Gump, and myself were the only people that seemed to head downstairs and leave the building. There are about 900 people in here, so that’s alot of people who decided to stay in their rooms and face the annoying alarm and possible fire. It turns out that the building is still standing. Somebody must have just burned their supper.

It reminds me of living in Eaton House during first year at Acadia. There were numerous times where the fire alarm would go off in the middle of the morning, during the winter, and you’d be huddled outside in your pajamas with everybody else, waiting for Security to turn the alarm off. They always seemed to take their time, never noticing that there were a hundred students almost freezing to death. Almost all of those alarms were due to popcorn being burnt on my floor. Why would anyone want popcorn at 3:00am?
