Hey, I Could Be A Doctor

Posted by tvor @ 5:59 pm

In the midst of the day whilst working from home, I lost the network connection and couldn’t reconnect to do any other work. So, I headed down to the Walk-In clinic down the street to get a prescription for some ezcema cream. I was planning on going down after finishing my work but since I couldn’t do any work I decided to head down early.

I must say, the clinic needs a better queue system for how patients see the doctor. I got there just after 2:00 and the receptionist said there would be an hour wait. Looking at the 6 or 7 people sitting down, I thought that to be a reasonable estimate. The first hour went by and I noticed that there was only one guy left who was there before me. “Great”, I thought, this shouldn’t take too long. Wrongo! It turns out that other patients came who had appointments and they were ushered in before me. It was kinda funny to see my “record” being stranded at the back of the little rack thing. Finally, after 2 1/2 hours, I got to see the doc! I went into the office and told him my condition and what I needed. Then he proceeded to write me a prescription and I was out of there in 3 minutes. So, after the extreme long wait, I was able to diagnose myself plus tell him what cream I needed. If only I could write prescriptions, I could be a doctor!

Oh yeah, I received my co-op work report back from Acadia today. This was marked alot faster than last year’s one. I was surprised to see that I scored 5/5 on all sections and an overall mark of Excellent. But then I saw why it was done so fast and the reason for the mark. Graded by: A. Trudel. Need I say more?

  1. Apparently, the good doc needs to use a shortest job first algorithm.

    *sigh*.

  2. Yes I think you do need to say more, because I do not know A Trudel.

  3. He’s a comp sci prof. I’ve never had him for a class but I’ve heard stories. He cuts his lectures and classes short, cancels Friday’s class, and so on. He’s a pretty easy going fella.

  4. Wow… that’s actually a quick waiting time. When I was in Grade 12, I got really sick one morning, and we had to go to the Yarmouth Hospital. We arrived at 11 O’clock in the morning, and I didn’t actually get to see a doctor until 7pm that night. All the while I was rolling around on the floor in pain.

Turns out I had to have my appendix and part of my small intestine removed.

  7. That’s the trouble with walk in clinics, you just never know. You should have made an appointment since it wasnt an emergency, so really, part of the blame lies on you. I’d like to see you go to med school though, I’ll even tutor you in basic bio if you want. if you can survive your first human dissection, you’ll get respect for life ;)

and Ness: doctor like speaks russian??
