Don’t Trust Anyone

Posted by tvor @ 11:22 pm

This morning I received a call from Dan and Danielle who were in the area on vacation. We spent the afternoon downtown at a Jay’s game, dined on a Pizza Pizza rooftop patio, and walked down to the lakeshore. I hadn’t seen them since their wedding last August in Wolfville.

The Jay’s game was quite an experience as we purchased some $10 tickets from a scalper for the 200 level in the outfield. Upon trying to enter the SkyDome, we were informed that the tickets weren’t any good and that we should go and get our money back. While walking back to the scalper we thought that he would have either ran off with our money or wouldn’t give us a refund. To our surprise, he gave us our money back and we purchased some legitimate SkyDeck tickets from the box office. All in all, the game was great with the Jay’s winning 7-2, a naked streaker running across the field, and getting to see the dome close during the final innings of the game.

The scalper incident brings me to my “Don’t Trust Anyone” attitude while I’m here in Toronto. Of course I trust many people here in the big city, but I’ve been through several shady experiences which allows me to believe that many people are just out to make a quick buck. Maybe it’s just the big city life where I’m getting this from as I feel like I can trust more people when I’m in a smaller setting such as Wolfville. All I know is that I won’t be buying tickets from a scalper again.
