International Canoe Trip

Posted by tvor @ 9:44 pm

I went on another canoe trip today with the group largely consisting of international students from China and Somalia.

The day started just before 8:00am, much earlier than I usually wake up on Saturdays. There were 13 of us on the trip as we piled into 5 canoes and made the journey across Black River Lake Dam to the same island that we stayed on during the last canoe trip. It took just over 90 minutes for us to reach our destination since we had alot of help from the tailwind. After having lunch and playing some games on the island, we headed back to the mainland, which took longer due to the headwind.

After arriving back to Wolfville, Andrew and I headed over to Mike’s place for a BBQ which was an excellent way to finish off a summer evening. It’s almost 10:00pm now and I’m exhausted after having canoed for several hours and spending most of the day on the go.

Safely on the Mainland

Posted by tvor @ 9:32 pm

After spending the past 9 days in Newfoundland, I have safely arrived back home to Wolfville. We crossed over last nite, departing Port-aux-Basques at midnite and arriving into North Sydney at 7:30am this morning. I slept the whole nite in a bunk and had breakfast on the ferry as we were docking.

It’s now back to normal life once again as work commences tomorrow. If anyone is interested, I have chosen about 350 of the best pictures we took on the trip and posted them in the gallery.

Checking in from Newfieland

Posted by tvor @ 8:12 pm

It has been just over a week since we crossed the Atlantic and arrived in Newfoundland. The past week has seemed more like a month with all of the travelling and visiting we have done.

It’s a beautiful Friday evening here in Jackson’s Cove as the temperature is beginning to cool down from the 30 degree afternoon. We will be heading back to Port-aux-Basques tomorrow afternoon for a midnite crossing back to the mainland. I should be back to Wolfville by Sunday evening. Expect several hundred picturesque photos to be posted shortly thereafter.

Cya ‘byes.
