After much ado, I’ve compiled some of the best pictures from the wedding weekend and put them in my gallery. Keep checking back as I’ll be adding more as I sift through the hundreds of pictures we have from the weekend.

This past Thursday, my whole company (7 of us) took the afternoon off and went rafting down the Bow River here in Calgary to celebrate some milestones that we just completed.
Before heading to the water we stopped at Calgary’s infamous Peter’s Drive-In for some burgers and fries. Then we headed up to Bowness park in the northwest part of the city to begin our journey. We rented a 12 foot long raft which snuggly accomodated the 7 of us and a cooler of drinks and food.
The next 3.5 hours were spent floating down the river towards downtown as we grounded out only once under a bridge and hit every rapid that we could find. Near the end of the journey we even had a visit from some Calgary firefighters who wanted to make sure we all had lifejackets, which we did.
Overall, it was a great time and a good team-building exercise. You really get to know your fellow employees more after sitting in a raft with them for that long.
We are married now! It was a great ceremony and reception on Saturday afternoon with perfect weather! Caitlin and I are now in Banff for a couple days on a short honeymoon. We will post pictures as soon as we get back! If you were at the wedding and have any nice pictures, please email them to us!
As I write this post I have only 400 hours left of being a single man. In just over 2 1/2 weeks, I will be married!
Tonite, Caitlin and I went out to purchase our wedding bands. I learned so much about rings that I never knew in the short time that we were going from store to store. In the end, we purchased 10 karat yellow gold rings (4mm for Caitlin and 6mm for me). Now the wedding feels like it’s really happening!
This past Tuesday, Caitlin and I headed down to the Uptown Theatre to watch Tsotsi , a film about a South African thug living in a township. It was really interesting to see a movie from a South African perspective and hear some original African music. Overall, I haven’t enjoyed a movie this much in a very long time.
After the movie, I still had some of the African music stuck in my head, so I downloaded a couple of songs. Those few songs weren’t enough, so I went on a hunt to find the soundtrack today and eventually found it after searching through 4 music stores. However, it was almost $30 and I knew that I could save a few bucks and find it somewhere else. When I arrived home, I did a search on the iTunes music store and it was available for only $9.99. Now I’m rockin’ to some African music with my first-ever iTunes music store purchase!
Yesterday, Caitlin and I headed to Banff for the afternoon to enjoy the hot springs and take a look around the town.
Our first stop were the hot springs where the water was 40 degrees celsius, quite a difference from the air temperature of -1. It was quite relaxing since we also had a nice view of mountains in the background. After the hot springs, we went to the Banff Springs Hotel and took a look around. Very huge and very nice… which also means very expensive! After our tour of the Hotel, we went downtown to find a place for supper. We stopped at Wild Bill’s and had a great supper. Afterwards we headed down the road to a candy store to get some dessert. Then we headed back home to Calgary and our day was over.
The pictures can be found here.
Today was my first Family Day holiday while living in Alberta. I only became aware of this holiday a couple months ago while looking at the Christmas holiday schedule. It was nice to have a long weekend in the middle of February.
Since today was a holiday, many stores were closed such as the barber shop just up the road where I attempted to get my hair cut this afternoon. After realizing this, I headed down to the Superstore where they have a barber shop, plus a Subway restaurant and few other small stores. It felt a bit awkward getting my hair cut in a grocery store, but it ended up being one of the best haircuts I’ve ever received. This will definetely be the place to get my haircut from now on. I’ve blogged about this a few times before.
This afternoon after checking out TicketMaster to see if any big concerts or events are happening around the Calgary area, I found out that Gordon Lightfoot will be coming in October. Since Caitlin and I are both fans of his music, I purchased a pair of tickets which are 8 rows away from centre stage. Now we have to wait 8 months…
